TRINITY CHURCH (METHODIST / UNITED REFORMED), STATION ROAD, ASHINGTON, NORTHUMBERLAND, NE63 8RN (next to the old police station).
Welcome to Trinity Church, which is part of the South East Northumberland Ecumenical Area, coming from the Methodist and United Reformed traditions. We are looking at new ways of being a vibrant and forward looking church, relevant to the 21st century and the needs of the people of Ashington and beyond.
Our minister is the Reverend Barry Welch, who arrived in Ashington in August 2004. He is working hard with the members of Trinity Church to develop ideas for our future. It’s an exciting time and we’d love you to be part of it!
The worship area has been redecorated and new lighting installed in 2008.
A WELCOMING CHURCH:
Jesus welcomed all people, the popular and the outcasts, the rich and the poor, those with much faith and those who wanted more faith. At Trinity Church we welcome all people warmly in the name of Christ as we journey together with God through our lives, seeking faith and understanding.
IS JESUS RELEVANT TODAY?
Church attendances have dropped significantly in recent decades, but many churches are holding steady or growing. God has not finished with the church. We believe that God is calling us forward to make a difference in our community. Despite declining attendances, interest in spirituality is on the rise. We believe that God is met through Jesus Christ who strengthens, encourages, challenges and inspires us to a better quality and way of life. God has acted in the birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus to give us the hope of eternal life, a wonderful quality of life in relationship with the living God, starting now!
IS THE CHURCH IMPORTANT?
We are called to be the “Body of Christ”, each playing a vital part in the continuing work of God, led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are called to be part of the church as together we worship and serve our awesome God, who forgives, brings new beginnings, and leads us to great possibilities.
You will be very welcome at any of our services and activities. For more information, call our minister, Revd Barry Welch on 01670 812137.
